Graduation was so surreal. None of us could believe that it was here, and when we heard Pomp and Circumstance, it finally hit all of us. The end is finally here. During freshman year, our class started with 303 students, and we ended with 178. Throughout my 4 years of high school, I’ve learned so many things, not only about school but also about life as well. Although there were struggles and obstacles I had to overcome, I wouldn’t trade my high school experience for the world. We don’t have the typical high school with athletics and other things that normal high schools do, but it made our experience more unique, and we made the best of what we had. The bonds and friendships that I made during these last four years were unforgettable, and I plan to keep some of them, even if the odds are against us. The nervous looks, goodbye hugs, party hopping, singing in the car, and weird noises made graduation a day to remember. We’re all finally going our separate ways and trying to make our own mark in the world, and I wish nothing but the best for everyone. I’ll truly miss each and every one of you so much.
You know what’s kind of beautiful?
In French, you don’t really say “I miss you.” You say “tu me manques,” which is closer to “you are missing from me.”
I love that. “You are missing from me.” You are a part of me, you are essential to my being. You are like a limb, or an organ, or blood. I cannot function without you.
